My picks: First, Texas. Second, Mississippi.

Texas: some of the friendliest people anywhere; huge, thriving cities (D/FW, Austin, San Antonio, Houston,) great job market, eclecticism in Austin, history in San Antonio and Ft. Worth, beaches, mountains, prairies, deserts, corn nuggets, Houston Astros, a great state! And the women...wow!

Mississippi: beautiful state, nothing like the smell of pine forest on a warm, rainy morning. True southern food, great southern hospitality, Southhaven and Gulf Coast are emerging as thriving areas. If I didn't choose Texas to live in, it would be Mississippi!

Kentucky, while beautiful, is no hotbed of economic growth and progessive thinking. The politicians have helped to prohibit growth and development. People are, by and large, guarded and frankly hateful (especially Louisville); small towns are very sheltered and closed off to "the outside." I'm a native who has NEVER felt comfortable or at home there.

I love Texas, especially east Texas, pine forest, hardwood bottoms, Cypress lined bayous, southern culture, and an emerging job market (4.3% unemployment). Nothing like home.

I was born and raised in MS. I still currently live here. Although my career and family are here, I hope to one day raise my children somewhere else. The economics of central MS are debilitating. The capitol city is dealing with a current out of control crime increase. If I were moving somewhere, it would not be MS.

On the upside, it is pretty!

I lived in TX for 10 years moved to the northwest in Washington state for another 10 and now I might be moving back to TX simply because there's plenty of jobs there available...but I don't see it as a permanent home.

I was born and raised in Dallas. Texas is awesome and has everything you said and then some. It has a little bit of everything.
