Make sure you acknowledge your responsiblity in the crime and apologize for your wrong doing. Express how bad you feel for the people your hurt and explain why you won't do it again. Look confident yet timid.
Dress proper and speak clearly and respectfully. Always address the judge by your honour and say yes sir / maam. Admit to your problem and ask the court to help assist you in the right direction. Very important. Have a plan of action for when you get out or for if you possibly avoid jail time. Make clear your intentions of how you will improve yourself and your goal on how you will become a law biting citizen.

You BEST bet is to insure you dress appropriately. Don't stand before the judge chewing gum and speak with respect.
It sounds to me, based upon your question, that it is over an alcohol related offense(es) of which you've already been convicted and are awaiting sentencing.
Be able to provide documentation indicating that you HAVE attended are are currently enrolled in an alcohol rehab program. If you've not completed or enrolled in to a rehab program...do so quickly to show the court that you are serious about rehabilitation.
The judge will assuredly ask you what you've done to impress the court in deciding whether you should go to jail or continue on your path of rehabilitation. He wants to be sure you are mature and adult enough that placing you in jail is not the best course of action.
Lastly, judges don't want to hear denials. They want to know that YOU recognize you have a problem and are seeking and have obtained professional help to resolve the problem!
Best wishes!

If its your second time going back to prison, especially if its the same offense, it wont be easy impressing him/her. Maybe express how sorry you are. Judges want to see remorse for anything they see as an injustice on the community, and maybe a cry for help (I'm really trying but I let my guard down that night, etc).

sounds like you have the right ideas. the only thing that i can add is to be very respectful in court. say yes sir and be very polite. i have heard that if you wear blue it makes you look more honest.
good luck and try to stay out of trouble.

First of all be respectful. Face up to what you have done humbly but with utmost respect. Do not speak to him unless requested to do so. Pick your words and tone carefully. Watch your body language and do nothing that could be concieved as defensive or aggressive.

Tell the judge you will kill him if he makes you go back again, that will keep you off the streets and away from steering wheels for quite a long time. Keep our roads safe, don't drive you lush.

Stay out of trouble and be polite as you can be. Your fate is pretty much decided.
