Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) the sensor provides information for the engine control unit in order for the ecu to calculate the engine air mass flow rate. This sensor helps tell the cars computer how much air to give the engine. If this sensor is bad then the engine will not get the right volume of air to run. If the car runs then most likely it will run badly, shutter, and stall. It will give the car to much or not enough air and normally bouce back and forth overcorrect from one extreme to another untill the car chokes from lack of air or too much fuel to air and flood out. Let it sit awhile and it may start again.
I suggest quit guessing visit a good mechanic and have the mechanic check out the car.
Best of luck.

The manifold absolute pressure sensor provides instantaneous pressure information to the engine's electronic control unit (ECU). This is necessary to calculate air density and determine the engine's air mass flow rate, which in turn is used to calculate the appropriate fuel flow. The MAP sensor may or may not be your problem. My advise is to have the engine scoped to determine the code stored in the engine. This will determine if it is indeed your MAP sensor. Perhaps what your car needs is simply a tuneup or ignition wires. Does this stalling occur in wet or damp weather? Try this simple trick. Start your vehicle and then splash your ignition wires with a cup of water. If your engine cuts out this is an indication that your ignition wires are worn.

MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor---generally if it's bad will die after startup and won't stay running---will set check engine light also. If your car is only having problems in humid weather, it sounds like losing ignition fire--a cracked distributor cap or if electronic ignition, a bad ignitor---moisture can affect any sensor where they plug together at wiring harness.

It could cause problems, but not by what you indicated.

I would lean more toward an ignition problem.
Bad coil?
Bad cam sensor?
Bad ignition module?

Next time it dies on you, try to determine weather you have spark or not.

The map sensor helps determine the amount of gas the engine requires. Not spark control.

It could be caused by a fuel pump, or map sensor, or baro sensor, or an electronic component breaking down when hot, etc, it needs to be scanned. What's it a 3.8?

MAP stands for Manifold Absolute Pressure, and yes, it can cause driveability problems inlcuding stalling. It's used by the on-board computer to determine load and thus participates in the CPU's decision on the amount of fuel needed to be injected for optimal performance.

it could but i have one suggestion run 1 bottle stp fuel injector cleaner see if the map sensor light goes off and returns to run normally// if not replace mapsensor// and oxy sensor at same time// they both work in conjunction with each other
