The popularity of the NFL is growing. Especially in other countries. The game that took place in Mexico drew an attendance of over 104,000. The NFL is a business first, and a sport second. This is a great way for the business side to make significant money, by attracting even more European fans.
I think it's a great thing. The more popular football gets, the more people who play it, the better the NFL players with inevitably get.
It should be noted that in the agreement to play these games in other countries, they MUST be nationally televised. So this will likely be on ESPN. Outside of the lose revinue of the home team from tickets (which is more than made up playing over there), the only bad is that the home teams fan get one less home game this year.

Well yes its obviously money and the expansion of the game but why the Dolphins and the Giants? I live in London and niether team has a fan base here, I know one English Dolphins fan and no Giants fans. You never see people wearing either team's kits either. If it was up to me, based on what I know I'd play the New England Patriots (big fan base, personally I hate them but that's another story, very successful, and all sorts of interesting connotations when connected to the old empire of England and they'd play either the Colts (also a big fan base and a classic match up, the Eagles strangely popular and I say that as a parttime eagles fan, the Steelers also popular, or the Chargers. That 's another thing the Giants finished 8-8 and shouldn't really have made the play offs the Dolphins failed to rally to make them and things aren't looking much better for next year (new head coach QB questions aging defence). Wooptifreakindoo, we get one game perhaps the only game ever to be played live in London, at leat give us one with potential playoff implications or at least a potentially exciting match-up. I suppose it's got to be a game no-one would miss watching live in the US so no divisional matchups or big rivalries but still you can do better. None the less I'll be there in full PA regalia probaly supporting the Dolphins as they have little to no effect on the Steelers and a Giants loss is always good news for Philly.

The NFL owners agreed to play up to 2 regular season games a year outside the US in an effort to popularize the sport around the world. With NFL Europe actually starting to find a little success look for many more games to start going over the big pond. In essence, it is all about the $$$.
Soon games will be played in Germany as well where NFL Europe has had some real success.

Because they want to promote the NFL in Europe as they did in Mexico when 49ers played Arizona for a regular season game 1 or 2 years ago. Money is money.

Money. Between the NFL Network and traveling the world now we as fans are going to find it harder and harder to simply watch a game. Its pathetic!

Because neither team has much of a fan base - therefore they won't miss the revenue from the missed home game.
