Dont do it all at once. What you should do is give yourself a set amount of work to do in a time limit. So for instance if you know you get drowsy or lose attention after 10 minutes, put your work down, get up and stretch, grab a glass of water or walk around. Limit your break to no more than 2 or 3 minutes at the most because after that point you can lose interest and even forget about the task at hand.
Make sure the TV and the computer are off, as those are really big distractions.
Take a lot of notes or keep a recorder handy where you can just say some notes or key points.
If those do not help what you may need to do is simply change where you study. Libraries, study halls, or the park are good alternatives (provided the weather is good)
You may not always want to study, but it is what you need to do to graduate...
Good luck!

Even though I am an adult student, I know that problem all too well. If you choose a time (the closer to the time that you get home, the better) each day set aside for study, then you get accustomed to the ritual. (Make sure that you isolate yourself--no phone, tv, or interruptions from friends). Study for 1 hour, determined to accomplish the most in that hour. Take a 15-30 minute break, then go back and finish. Some people prefer doing their harder assignments first, therefore having them out of the way. Others prefer to do the easier ones first, feeling more of a sense of accomplishment at first, then tackling the harder ones next. I promise you that it will work. After being out of school for nearly 30 years and then returning to college, well, I've had to learn how to do it all over again. Good luck!

Lot of people go through the same phrase as you so there is absolutely nothing to worry about. Its better you chalk out a time table for each of your activity and try maintaining that but remember this that whatever u do.......enjoy doing it, when u r watching tv enjoy doing that n not think about studies during that time n similarly when u r studing, put ur 100% in it. well you can also start some exercises that wud help u to concentrate.

Hi !!! i can understand ur problem because once upon a time even i was like that.well the answer is determination.see suppose u want to do something in computer, say to yourself that i won't do anything in computer or watch tv until i study.i know it will be tough, but its worth a try. if not working then study with your friend.you both can discuss everything u study. it will be fun and you won't feel bored. pick the subject which you like and after that pick the one which u feel is the most toughest and decide that u are going to study that. if you are not at all in a mood to study then go on and do whatever u want the whole day and start fresh the next day.

Set aside a time to study and a place where you won't get distracted. Tell your family and friends not to bother you during this time, and this means no phone calls and no computer chat.
At first it should be for about half an hour. It will take determination on your part, but you seem like a girl who is determined to make studying part of your normal routine. Then work up to an hour, and soon it will be as if studying is as normal as watching TV.
Good luck to you!

First of all sit back, close your eyes and visualise
See yourself sitting in your study table and studying seriously. Even though you are studying, what your learning is fun and you can't keep your book down. After your study session you feel really really happy that you studied. (still visualising). You are writing your final exam. Your mind is brimming with confidence that you have studied well. All the questions were really easy as you decided to sit and study.Your teacher is announcing your rank-list. She reads your name in the first rank. Everyone starts clapping. You feel so great and thank yourself for taking the bold decision to study.( visualisation ends)
Now open your eyes and say "I'm a great learner." Believe in what you are saying.
Now with more confidence and determination than before try to learn every time you think of letting go remember your dream(visualisation).
Well it is said that what ever you can see in your mind, dream , you can achieve it.
If the going gets tough remember Sir Thomas Edison's words
" Many of life's failures are those people who did not realise how close they were to success when they gave up."
Just try hard enough and you can achieve what you dream of.

You need to start thinking about your books differently. In truth and infact - your books ARE stories (and more than likely true stories) think of your books as opening you up to a lot of experiences. Start thinking that way and you will be off to a good start.
Think of studying as giving you a "one-up" on your tutors not to mention the other students. Just think!! The more you know the SMARTER you are!!! Now isn't that something?

Sometimes you just have to get yourself in motion. Shut the tv off, maybe go to the library. What are you studying? Maybe there is a site online that explains it better than your text book. Wikipedia has a really easy to read explanation of pretty much everything. Maybe their style would be more interesting for you. I know what you mean tho, but somettimes you just have to kick your own butt a little.

I had the same problem when I used to go to school. I found it is easier to hear than to read. Also my father always use to tell me if you write something instead of reading it you learn it better. So this is my advise. Get a recording machine and read out loud to it. So later you can play it in a walk-man in your car or when jogging or cleaning the house. You know so you don't have to be attach to the books all the time and also you can do other things and learn at the same time. let me know if it helped

Get away from all the distractions in your house and go somewhere else to study. Its just a matter of discipline. You have to make yourself do it. Once you set your goal of getting it done and then you do it think of how proud you will be of yourself that you completed your work. Good Luck and happy studying.
