My picks: First, Texas. Second, Mississippi.

Texas: some of the friendliest people anywhere; huge, thriving cities (D/FW, Austin, San Antonio, Houston,) great job market, eclecticism in Austin, history in San Antonio and Ft. Worth, beaches, mountains, prairies, deserts, corn nuggets, Houston Astros, a great state! And the women...wow!

Mississippi: beautiful state, nothing like the smell of pine forest on a warm, rainy morning. True southern food, great southern hospitality, Southhaven and Gulf Coast are emerging as thriving areas. If I didn't choose Texas to live in, it would be Mississippi!

Kentucky, while beautiful, is no hotbed of economic growth and progessive thinking. The politicians have helped to prohibit growth and development. People are, by and large, guarded and frankly hateful (especially Louisville); small towns are very sheltered and closed off to "the outside." I'm a native who has NEVER felt comfortable or at home there.

Kentucky I thought it was pretty but I dont think I would want to live there. The only part of Texas I have been was a giant dust bowl and then Dallas was a big city Im not much on the big city living. And Mississippi I just drove right through so I don't know. I really like Florida, Vermont, Arkansas, Washington, and Wyoming

I was born in New Orleans, was stationed in Texas in the military, and have lived in northern Kentucky more than half my life. I'm sooo glad someone else shares my feelings! Don't remember much about the south, as I left as a child, but my parents say they miss the "southern hospitality". I loved San Antonio, Texas, and never had any problems with people in Killeen, either. But I always thought the KY license plates with the smiling sun and motto, "It's that friendly!", ought to be changed to read, "It's that fiendish". These rednecks must all be descendants of the Hatfields and McCoys...

I've never been to Mississippi or Kentucky before but I have been to Texas because I have a lot of family there so I'll say Texas. I loved visiting Texas the people I met while I was there was very friendly.

I have lived in Texas and Kentucky, and I have been to Mississippi. Texas has the friendliest, most down to earth people I have ever met in my life. I spent my younger years in Kentucky, so I have that nostalgia feeling attached to that, otherwise it isn't all that great. Kinda poor. I didn't like the part of Mississippi I went to. People weren't all that friendly. I would definitely choose Texas over all. It just has its own feeling to it. Just a wonderful place to be.

My husband lived in Texas as a kid and hated it. Granted, his Dad was in the service and he was one of very few white kids in his junior high school. They have bad memories because their pet bunny ran away and there were SCORPIONS!

I have never been to Texas or Mississippi. I like Kentucky. It's really pretty.

I live in Michigan which is tied with North Dakota (where we have relatives) for the states that people are leaving the fastest. Michigan is a gorgeous state but severly economically depressed because mainly of the auto industry. More people need to Buy American! :o)

While I have lived in KY all my life, I can agree with you that Louisville is a hateful place. People are so rude there! We do have our poor places, especially in the southeastern part of the state. However, it's the only place I've known as home, so I pick KY by default.
