It's not required but since you had to drain it alittle anyway I would go ahead and flush the system and put a new cap on and a new thermostat. That way you know your cooling system is up to snuff.

It's always a good idea to change the antifreeze in a situation as yours where the water pump has gone bad. It's possible the pump went out because of bad antifreeze, plus, I would change the thermostat also and check the radiator and heater hoses, drive belts, as well. Good Luck.

It really just depends on how old the antifreeze is. Sense you have to drain it anyway to change the pump you may as well change the coolant too, it doesn't cost that much. But if the antifreeze is clean, and you can catch it in a clean container, no you do not have to change it.

Yes as the water pump moves the coolant. They could have collected and reused the old coolant and added a bit of water to get the level up. Get it checked at a local garage(or buy a tester yourself) to see how strong the mixture is so you know how low you can go.

You don't have much of choice - coolant has to be drained before the water pump is removed, and once it's out - why not put fresh one in? Normally, even if you have a cadillac, the pump should last 30-40,000 miles. If it fails again immediately after replacement which does occasionally happen, you can re-use coolant.

Depending on the vehicle, if you remove the water pump before draining the radiator you will have a bit of a mess.
You may as well change the fluid, new is better than used.

i personally change water pump hoses and thermosrat and gasket all at the same time will save you from taking something else apart a week from now as the new water pump produces more velocity than the old one

a good rule of thumb: Any time you drain the anti-freeze for any reason, always replace it with new anti-freeze. if for any reason, peace of mind. you won't have to worry about it for a couple of years, or 24-30,000 miles.

It's a good idea to flush it out too, in case there is debris in the cooling system.
