A vehicle designed to burn diesel fuel can not run on gas. Diesel engines run hotter, produce more power at a lower rpm (usually) and last longer becasue the fuel lubricates the engine components...pistons piston rings... constantly..they cost more too but that's because they last longer....you can not run diesel in a car designed for gas either there's more to it then what I say here but this is the basic thing...
Diesel fuel burns at a higher temperature then gas..gas will vaporize in the combustion chamber of a diesel engine and will not be efficiently used..gas would be wasted in a diesel engine.

What gas are you talking about? In the US what Indians call petrol is termed as gas.
If you mean Compressed Natural Gas, there is no real reason that I can think of.
Heavy commercial vehicles that were normally being run on diesel are now successfully being run on CNG. (Remember the commotion caused when the Delhi Transport Corporation insisted on running their busses on CNG?)
Perhaps a minor alteration to the engine, involving a gas kit and improving lubrication of the engine would do the trick. (Diesel fuel produces some lubrication before it burns, CNG doesnt) .

It's in the nature of the beast. Diesel engines don't have an electric ignition system. Diesel fuel ignites due to high temperature generated in the combustion chamber (a.k.a. cylinder) during compression stroke due to higher than gasoline engine compression ratio (8-10 gas vs 22+ diesel). If an equivalent of gasoline is attempted to be used in a diesel engine, it will ignite long before the piston reaches TDC (Top Dead Center), and the explosion will simply kick it back thus no crankshaft rotation will occur.

It's not practical to retrofit a diesel to run LPG fuel. You can do a gas motor, not a diesel.

Injector used is meant for less volatile diesel, gas is already volatile.
