I feel awful about American Idol last night. It is OBVIOUS that some of these kids are mentally disabled. Am I the only one that feels this way? Having the bad singers on there is entertainment enough, they don't have to RIDICULE these people and ruin their lives, do they? I feel sad about out our society.

Those two boys (you know who I mean) were mentally disabled. And it's pretty dang sad. Just because they don't realize they are being manipulated, or their families don't seem to care, doesn't make it OK.

Personally, I'm not watching anymore until they are done with auditions. They show too many of the bad and not enough of the good anyway. And to be honest, it's pretty boring. I think most of the people who are really enjoying watching these people get humiliated and insulted by Simon, Randy, and an obviously high/drunk Paula, are the younger audience anyway. It's just plain old immature bullying, in a more socially acceptable (sadly) forum than the high school locker room or the elementary school playground.

it's SUPPOSED to lure controversies such as your statement. Remember, no publicity is bad publicity, and i'm pretty sure they've assessed the legal aspects of the actions. Hey, we'll never know for sure if those people are talents brought in to humour us right? :) Don't feel so bad about it. I'm sure if it's really wrong, more people like you will stand up and make a difference :) Until then.. I'm sorry.. I'm going to keep on watching and laugh my axx off..

And if you are wrong.

They may have just been playing for the camera to get their one minute of fame.

Let's face it people came up dressed like Apollo Creed, and Uncle Sam, and sang like the cowardly lion.

People are doing everything to get on the show.

These people go there willingly and know what the show is about. I didn't see any mentally challenged contestants; but maybe that was during my bathroom break !

I have to agree! Some may sing bad, but that gives them no right to make fun of the way they look. :(

I think you are wrong; I don't believe they are truly mentally challenged. We might think they are "acting dumb", but it really is just people goofing off. Or there are just terribly delusional people out there.
