Is it common to have heart palpitations in early pregnancy? This has been happening every day to me for four days mostly at night. I'll just be sitting there and suddenly my heart starts pounding. I am going for bloodwork today but I wonder if anyone else has had this happen.

Heart palpitation during pregnancy is normal. Even in early pregnancy, your heart works much harder because you already have a lot more blood in your body. If the palpitation is regulary accompanied by dizziness and a headache, then there might be a reason for concern.

Yes it's very very common. I remember jumping out of bed thinking IS THIS A HEART ATTACK? I was trying to calm down and eventually it passed. I immediately jumped on babycenter.com and of course there are answers about this very common occurrence in pregnancy. Funny thing is now I have a 10-month old and I hadn't thought about it since when that happened. You will find all of the pregnancy worries and woes and birthing anxieties will be a DISTANT memory once baby arrives. It's so funny to think back about all the changes and things that consumed me then, that I barely remember. For this reason I suggest you keep a journal so you can recall to baby later on what he/she put you through! :) Good luck!

it can be but be careful and make sure your dr checks you out. With all the blood increasing throughout your body your heart is on overdrive pumping. My heart would pound sometimes as well, it was scary but everything was fine. There are times when my pulse is so strong that i can feel it while sitting, very weird to me! Just watch it for any changes or severe breathlessness and like i said keep your dr informed. best of luck.

I've had this my whole pregnancy so far, and I'm 22 weeks. I'm not going to lie when I say that it freaks me out, but according to some of the women on here, it's normal.

Yeah, it happened to me very frequently. I was worried and asked the doctor. She did some tests and an ultrasound on my chest. I was fine! She said it's not unheard of, but it's not that common. Sometimes the hormones, vitamins and the excess blood supply can cause it. So, I would bring it up to the doctor to double check, but you're probably fine!

Heart palipitations are totally and perfectly common in pregnancy. I had them as well and panicked about it, but then i did a little research and found that its perfectly normal. Most pregnant women suffer from it, from what I understand.
