This is an odd word that I really don't want to put on my CV... so what alternatives are there to "manning" the front desk...
My brain's gone blank and I can't think of anything...

all help welcome
(insults only allowed if they are witty and not personal)

thanks :)

Thanks guys.. I guess 'tending to' is quite a good one to use..

I have looked on thesaurus.com but didn't come up with anything... and dictionary.com just said 'manning' means 'to supply with men'?? not what i am looking for at all!

bit wary of using 'managing' as it may sound like I was higher up in status than the other receptionists... although it's always good to embellish..

anyway thanks guys :)

Cvs are a nightmare arent they.

Try organising, overseeing, operate, manage.
Perhaps try being more specific. eg. list the tasks you do when are "manning the desk", such as answering customer queries, taking telephone calls etc. or say " in charge of all front of house duties"

Not feeling particularly witty or insulting, so a sensible answer will have to do you im afraid.

Unfortunately the one the seems to be used the most is 'person' so maybe personing the front desk.

I am all for getting rid of gender in jobs, but personally I can't stand the word 'person' being used, e.g. instead of manhole the use of personhole.

I look forward to reading better solutions to this
