I am wondering if there is any way I could sell my laptop and buy a PDA instead. The one thing that PDA's seem to be missing is any sort of CD drive. Can you get external CD drives (maybe with bluetooth) that will work with a PDA? I want to get a PDA and NOT NEED to ever hook it up to a computer. Is that possible?

One thing I should note- I don't need lots of memory. Enough for a few songs, maybe some pictures...a handful of word documents. Usually I store all of my important stuff on my flash drive, and that's all the memory I need.

Its not really practical. Printing is the best example. Very hard to print off of a PDA. Internet browsers on PDA leave a lot to be desired as well. Unless you are a very light user, I doubt it will work for you (although I wish it could!)

Not in the near future due to memory limitations but down the road it is more than likely. Memory cards do some to help for the time being but I would not recommend disposing a laptop for a PDA. Keep both. You can get a TREO by Palm but all PDA's have connectivity built in for a computer, again due to memory capacity. Also, a computer keeps a back-up for the PDA during a hotsync and I only bring this up because several times my high-end PALM lost data. Keep your eye for the next generation of cellular-based products because they are supposed to function more and more like a computer plus provide communication or as we say in the industry "full spectrum information technology." Think about what you need in terms of storage and portability to help make the decision more evidence-based.

I searched around and i didnt find any bluetooth cd drives. Some may come out in the future though. The problem with only a palm is that you cant back up your data on a computer. Therefore if you do have to hard rest your palm for some reason you lose everthing. So i would stick with a laptop..or maybe both and just use the laptop to put cds on your palm and to back up your palm.
