I'm a successful telemarketer & am always looking for way to increase my sales. Then it hit me - call the people lying in hospital beds recovering from injury, illness, surgery, etc. It is not like they are busy or going anywhere so are more likely to listen to my sales pitch. Furthermore, have nothing to do and will be eager to hear about (and more importantly) buy my product. This is an untapped market and I see nothing but increased sales. Can anyone tell me how I get the phone numbers for these hospital recovery rooms?

You are a fool. Aside from this being cruel, you think these sick people are going to have information at hand (like credit card numbers, price comparison, etc) lying in a hospital bed?

Patient confidentiality -- hospitals will be sued till kingdom come if ever they sell lists of their patients and what rooms they are in and their telephone number. No hospital in their right mind will give you the information, nor are there any exisiting lists you can buy.

Afterall, this is a VERY fluid market - a person in a hospital room can stay anywhere from the very short term to a longer term.

And please, these people are sick and recuperating -- the last thing they'd want to hear is a sales pitch from a telemarketer.

If this idea of yours works, I bet FTC will act so fast to clamp down on this practice, if not the medical board. Ain't going to work

You are sick yourself. Leave these people alone. They are recovering from sickness and illness and the last thing they want is to listen to a sales pitch. Not withstanding that wards often share a phone - just who were you going to ask for? Man in bed 4? Many of these phones also charge for incoming calls.

If you really want to contact these people, make up some flyers for the notice boards and if you are allowed to post them - those bored enough will contact you.

People are in a hospital because they need to be. This doesn't mean that they are bored and eager to listen to a sales pitch. Your desire to contact patients is morally reprehensible. People who are physically well cannot stand pestering phone calls. Why do think that someone who is ill would want to be bothered?
