This author argues that mathematics is a form of mythical thinking It has the same structure and pre-logicallity- ie does not avoid contradiction as does so called primitive thinking.tHE AUTHOR SHOWS THAT JUST LIKE PRIMITIVES SCIENCE JUST AVOIDS THE CONTRADUICTIONS THAT UNDERMINE IT. ie dual nature of light, petersburg paradox in probablity theory russels cantor set theory paradox sholem paradox in axiomatics theory godels demonstarion that mathematics cannot be proven to be non-se;lf contradictory What do you think.

Math is exact. One object can never be two and two can never be one. The language and symbols are imaginary, but you cannot change something that is static. Now if you're talking about Quantum Mechanics, then you my have an argument.

Yeah, I've seen those. All I can suggest to you is that you see if mathmatics has any useful applications. Say, like balancing your checkbook, figuring out your tax forms, using advanced calculus to calculate orbits of satellites and GPS systems and getting your computer to work. Hmm ... seems like math is working pretty well, doesn't it? So, not mythical then.

I suggest you look at Roger Penrose's new book, "The Road to Reality", which addresses these issues in a really wonderful way.
