I'm going to start college. I'm turning 28, never did a day of college. I've been working full time since I was 17. Is this a idea good or a waist of time.

I'm going to be doing school at night and working during the day.

It is never to late to start!

I was like you. I had a daughter at a young age and going to college at 18 was not an option for me. I did a lot of secretary jobs, but quickly realized that I wouldn't get any higher on the corporate ladder without a degree. I will graduate this December @ 28 yrs old and will hopefully soon have a job as an Airline Pilot. You can't go from secretary to pilot without a degree, obviously....

Something else to consider. Now that you are a little bit older, school will mean more to you than it does the 18 yr old punks in your class. If you are going to night school, chances are that you will be surrounded by adults in the same situation.

Don't feel ashamed about taking "catch-up" class like remedial Math or English. It may seem silly at first, but it will prepare you for the harder stuff later.

It is very hard work but, you can do it. In the end, you'll be happy you did.

I'm 25, in the military with a wife and a child. I take class's during my lunch hour, one after work, and a night class. You are never too old to try to better yourself. And any degree or certification you get will just make you more marketable. The fact you did it later in life will also show employees you are good at budgeting your time, which is defintly a trait they like to see in workers.

It's never a waste of time. You could easily get a raise or a better paying job once you get your degree. That way you don't have to work as much, or else you can save up more money faster. Congrats on going back. And I wish I had the energy to work fulltime and get back to school as well. =( Just don't overload yourself with too many classes!

When I was in school there were woman in there 50s in my night classes trying to better themselves and get paid more! So I think it's really worth it!

I'm 29 and going to college. Take one class to start, then two after the first semester. Take your time, don't get overloaded with school, work and other responsibilities. Good Luck!

You are never too old to go to school. My mom didn't go to school until she was little older. She could be a career student if she had the time. I had a few people in class who were in their 50's... so don't sweat it. You'll be fine.
