There's a fine line between criticism and just downright cruelty and they have allowed him to cross the line....all in the name of ratings, but at the expense of someone else's feelings. I certainly hope he has bodyguards.

Excatly what I was thinking too. People can't help the way they look and people who aren't, what society considers to be "average looking", get lots of crap from bullies all their lives. That comment he made about that guy's looks was downright mean -- how such comments affects one's self-esteem and confidence. Shame on the Idol producers and judges.

I think sometimes he does go too far, but at the sametime, I think sometimes they edit things to make them look worse than they are.
Again - he is there to be a judge, and it's his job to tell someone how it is...Given some people don't want to be told that they are fat and ugly and won't make it, but it's almost in his job description to do so.
I do agree though, sometimes...a lot of times they ALL go too far. The laughing during audtions, plugging their ears and things...they're just rude!

simon is a judge and it is his duty to make judgements on the candidates. but he should know that he is not there to pass comments on the way god has created others. Perhaps simon is craving for attention through his crude remarks. just to show that he is different from others.i thnik one should wake simon from his sleep and show his own pic. ,maybe then we wiill get some interesting remarks by simon on himself. simon, you are not a greek god, either

The guy really does look like a "bush baby", it's an animal---the eyes, the ears, the chin....
Now when he called that tall chick a "giraffe",that was mean---she neither had spots or a tail!

I agree. It shouldn't matter what your physical appearance is IF you can sing.
But I do think some of those contestants could have dressed a little nicer ( a lot nicer) knowing they were going to be on National Television.

I think when he called that guy a monkey with huge eyes it was over the top, but I still laughed.
