here is the procedure: half fill atest tube with a suspension of lead sulfide in water. introduce some hydrogen peroxide. the produced substance is lead sulfate.

You need to DO the experiment to get visual evidence!

The formula for lead sulfide could be either PbS2 if lead is a +4 ion (IV) or PbS if it is a +2 ion (II); it will be PbS if no roman numeral is listed in original lab.

Formula for hydrogen peroxide is H2O2.

Products will be lead sulfate (PbSO4) and water.

Write your reaction equation, balance, and then use oxidation numbers of the atoms in both reactants and products to see which ones have changed. If the number decreases, it means it has been reduced; if the number has increased, the atom has been oxidized (since electrons are negative).
