Been to the doc this morning as im off to Egypt next week and needed to check a few things with him. However, he wasn't really that helpful at all. When i asked about a fitness to fly letter, he replied "well, do u feel fit to fly"? and that was it! no check up, nothing! I asked him if he could perscribe something incase I get jelly-belly whilst Im there, his reply was -"u can probably take immodium if it gets bad", Im not happy with "probably" and told him so, he said that it is all he can say!!! Are all doctors so uncaring ?? not sure what to do now

Yeah...I dislike my dr too! When I was about 5 - 6 weeks pregnant I started bleeding very heavy with clots. I had very bad cramping on my left lower abdominal area. The dr just looked at me and told me that it could be normal. He said this without any test! The minute I described the symptoms, he just said that it could be very normal...and that's it! Thankfully, I am stil pregnant.
A week later, I talked to a nurse and said that i might have had a miscarriage and lost one of the twins. She said all the symptoms that i described matched with symptoms of miscarriage.

then I asked my dr that i want to get ultrasound done so I know that it's a normal pregnancy. he said no and told me to wait. I told him that i want to see if my baby has any birth defects and then he asked me "YOu are gonna tell ME that ultrasound can detect birth defects???" He was very sarcastic. Later, when I did some research on ultrasound, it said that one of the main reasons to get ultrasound done is to detect birth defects. My dr. is an asshole.
If you could see another dr, that's probably good.

Well, i suggest you go see another doctor to get the info u need. I believe you can fly no problems until the end of the 7th month.
As for the medicine, you need your dr to tell you what to do.. But dont worry too much, there are good drs in egypt. Hopefuly though, you wont need one.
enjoy your trip

Sounds pretty normal for most doctors.

A lot of doctors will allow pregnant women to take a dose of immodium for the runs.

As for fitness to fly letter, unless you're in your third trimester, or planning on flying the plane yourself, you dont need one. No airline is going to as a pregnant woman for one unless she obviously looks like she's about to deliver.

If you dont feel comfortable, SWITCH DOCTORS! I had to do this about half way through my pregnancy. I knew I wasnt comfortable with her but stuck it out for a while, then someone smart asked me this: Do you trust this person to bring your child into this world? Dont you want the birth of your baby to be an enjoyable experience? You will be miserable if you dont like your doc.

you are paying for your drs. service. If you are not satisfied, I would switch. My first daughter I had and ob dr. and he seemed very uncaring. So when I got pregnant with my second daughter, I got a midwife instead. She was amazing, you would think she was the one having the baby the way she treated me. I would try a midwife if I were you.. Good luck with what ever you decide!!!

Look for a new Dr.!!! Because of the way they get paid by insurance a lot of Dr's. have become seemingly uncaring. I can honestly say that they are not all that way. Find one who is not.
