i know what you mean. its a powerfully inescapable thought.
convincing yourself that life goes on after death, doesn't really help because whether it does or not, the person we know now will cease to exist. i think logic plays a large part in the mental conflict we encounter when we think of dying and of death.
it may help to realize that in that respect, we die a little each day because we are never the same person we were earlier- and we will continuing changing as we age. that is to say, the child we were when were were 10, has already died, yet we go on.
time marches on. since our ultimate demise is an unknown, it can't be ruled out that we will go on, albeit in some change. Just as the way we have changed from being a baby or a teenager or a mature adult.
it seems illogical to (logical thinkers) that when we "die" we might continue on somehow, but just as the miracle of life and the birth of life on Earth has proven (something coming from nothing isn't logical) logic does not always dictate what will happen.
Its actually been proven that perfect logic is flawed. So, while I continue to be unable to think about being dead, I also realize that we don't really know what will happen. And sadly, even if we do know, by the time we reach old age, the person we are now will have already been gone for a long time.
Just live each day to its fullest and appreciate what you have now, because things are always changing. life doesn't bow down to logic, it defies it. and it could very well be that nothing ever dies

Try to look at it this way: Who do you WISH could have lived forever? How about that teacher you had in grade 7? Think of the worst person you ever knew - was it an overbearing cruel teacher, or a relative, or some bully at school? Imagine a world where YOU get to live forever; it would also be one where EVERYONE got to live forever, wouldn't it! Now, it might be nice to still have Jimmy Hendricks around, or Leonardo da Vinci, or Helen of Troy, or Julius Caesar, but you'd have to put up with the bad guys too - Hitler, Stalin, you meanest teacher, etc. Also, the human race would not be like it is now if everyone lived forever. The planet would have been overpopulated centuries ago, and people would start killing each other over dwindling resources, or just because they kept bumping into each other. You are probably not old enough to remember an episode of the first Star Trek where they come across a planet horribly overpopulated because those people eliminated all disease and now live virtually forever. They "borrowed" a couple of diseased humans just to INTRODUCE death into their world. Human beings are the only creature on Earth aware of their mortality - we KNOW we will die. It's horrible to know that. You aren't the only person fearing the end. BUT, how would you like to be 12 years old now and be told you are going to die of leukemia within a year? Your chances of living a really long life are pretty good: you live in an affluent society with plenty of good food and health care; you don't live on a little island in the Pacific that gets tidal waves every 10 years killing off most of the people; you are protected by laws and your government isn't controlling your life with military. In fact, you'd have to TRY to kill yourself! You're almost TOO safe. If you want to have different feelings about being mortal, try getting some different feeling about being ALIVE. Pack your life with experiences of all sorts. Challenge yourself physically and mentally, and visit Sick Children's Hospital to get an idea of the tragedy of a life cut SHORT (which yours is NOT). For now, just ENJOY being you - there's only ONE you, so make the most of it. Help others. Try to find out about the lives of your parents. When you hear other people's life stories, life seems LONG. Good luck.

No, not one bit. As many others here have said, it's part of life. And whatever beliefs people have about what happens afterwards, that mystery will only be revealed to us after we die. I believe that we carry on in some way, but that's just me. In the meantime, try to enjoy every minute of the life you have now and don't let your panic about something that happens to every single one of us stop you from doing so.

Yeah, it use too to me, then this crazy thing happened; I was in a sever car accident and I was hanging over death's canyon by an eyelash. It's okay, it's just a part of life, once you die, we will start another journey. Yeah, be scared because you don't know if anyone will help you but don't be afraid of dying.

Hi. I seldomly wonders about death and reacts the same way you did to the thought of it. I believe the reason why I am scare of death is because I don't know what will happen to me and my soul when I'm dead. Moreover, it just break my heart when thinking that I'll be aparted from the ones I love forever.
My grandma who passed away last September 2006 used to tell me that she's not scare of death. As she had already fulfilled her life and did the things she wanted to do. She told me to live the live I want to live and do the things I want to do so that I don't regret anything when my time comes.

The only thing that really gets me is how I will die. I hope it isn't painful. I'm a christian, and the bible teaches that this life is short, we are like a vapor, here today gone tommorrow. I try to look at the big picture. Heaven awaits those who put their trust and faith in Jesus and this alone gives me a peace and comfort that helps me deal with any thing that comes up.

No I am not afraid of dying . 9 years ago I was diagnosed with cancer and it made me realise that life is precious and not to worry about dying. Thankfully I have had the all clear now, but I am not scared at all of death.

Where ever we are, death will come to us, even we could be fortifying ourselves in lofty towers. Some say there are only tow facts in our life: Birth and Death.
Your question says: Is any one....
Of course there is someone out there who is afraid of death.. may be more than you are.
Acceptance, is what to do about it. Once you accept death you will have peace of mind. Good luck!

Death is part of life, but why dwell on it so much that you drive yourself insane.?
Look at it this way, what are you scared of?
If you believe in the almight God and that Jesus is his son. Romans 10:9
What do you fear other than God death...I dont think so.
Death is the opassing of one lfie to another that waits you when your called.
Trust me on this. We can be called at anytime and if that is what your worried about I would take a second breather.
I told my friend if he dies before I go let me know if there's baseball in Heaven.
One year later my friend dies and he comes to me and say's "Al there baseball heaven and I said wow thanks, but he also said your pitching tomorrows game."
