Yes, it is normal and yes it should be a female name. It should, however, be a two or three syllable name such as Clarice or Kimberly. That will make it stick in people's minds better.

I think perhaps 'Jane' is a little too staid for a truck - I'd go with the Kimberly suggestion above!

And the naming conventions of many Western nations suggest that a truck should mosty definitely be female - countries, towns, ships, boats, ferries and trucks are generally referred to in the feminine - to a sailor, the sea and the ship he sails in are invariably 'she'.

My car's called Tink, she's a girl...

of course it is normal to name a truck. Just look at Eddie Stobarts lorries...they all have womens names on the front

Yes name it.
Eddie Stobarts lorries are named, sometimes with two names on them. If I had one I would name it after my Daughter 'Lady Celtic' (pronounced with a K)

yes, i think its a great idea, everything else is named: like The Titanic i'm sure she was a female, and my red car is named Ruby.
