As a Brisbane girl, I would suggest you get onto the local Brisbane newspaper website which is www.couriermail.com.au and look for the real estate section. Saturdays is the best day to look for accomodation especially shared.
Also contact the university you are attending and ask about the university housing. A friend on mine attended University of Queensland in Brisbane and lived on campus.
I hope this is of some help to you. And I hope you enjoy Brisbane

hey there I dont know what the university of biology is but I stayed at a place called the "unilodge" in downtown brisbane (in 2003). You have your own (very small) room with a standard bathroom (its a nice bathroom), and a sink/counter area, then a desk, bed, closet type thing and a tv.
and then theres a common area with all the kitchen stuff, a lounge with a big tv and video games, a sauna, a few work out machines, and theres a tiny outdoor pool.
it would be a good option if you wanna live in the city with a bunch of other "foreigners"

where is the University of Biology?
Renting here in Brisbane is amazingly expensive at least $100 week for a room alone, and $350 a week for a house.
There is a huge accommodation shortage here.
Most of the uni accommodation will go in January as well, so you want to get here early to take advantage of it.
Contact your university directly they may be able to recommend accommodation services.
I expect you will probably end up in a shared house situation - which is a bit more affordable.

I've made out a list below that could be helpful for accomodation in Brisbane. One is in French.
Usually the University has an accommodation service - just go to their website and you'll find it under "Accommodation Services"

Plan to arrive a week earlier than plan so that you can find a suitable flat to rent. There are many of them so you dont have to worry of not getting one.
