The modern English word blue (German:blau) comes from the Middle English, bleu or blwe, which came from an Old French word bleu of Germanic origin (Frankish or possibly Old High German blao, "shining"). Bleu replaced Old English blaw. The root of these variations was the Proto-Germanic blæwaz, which was also the root of the Old Norse world bla and the modern Scandinavian word blå. It can also be green or orange occasionally(blue). A Scots and Scottish English word for "blue-grey" is blae, from the Middle English bla ("dark blue," from the Old English blædf*c*).

'Blue' originates from the Heiroglyphic word: 'Bu'. Meaning 'of the water and of the sky'.

Much of the heiroglyphs depicted in egyptian tombs refer to 'Bu' as the transitional 'zone' between earth to the after-life. As such this relationship with the sky is also linked to the sea by way of illustrations depicting the deceased ascending through the sky on the egyptian fish-like deity 'Cord' (or 'Kourd').

Hope this helps!

we were taught things are that a certain color is that certain color like this color is "blue". if we were taught the color "blue" was "red" we would think blue is red. it is all what we were taught.
