The War on Terrorism. Whoops, that already started. Umm, perhaps Dept of Homeland Security will change from Yellow to Orange (maybe even magenta if we're lucky). Or congress will come up with a new word to justify war, like Kidnappery or Naperism. Why, are you from Iran and looking for ideas? Terrorist. Hello, Chertof? Yea, I got another one.

Under this administration, probably nothing would happen. Remember, this administration knows full well that it has stretched its resources too thin, and to risk an all out war in Iran, would completely exhaust our military, and Bush would not be allowed to do that because it would spell political suicide for the Republican party come the next election. Always keep in mind that the Bush cabinet could care less about American lives, they only care about corporate profits, and if Iran does not look like fertile ground for profiting from oil, and “reconstruction” projects they will not enter it.

Nothing.
Iran would just call them "enemy combatants", hold them forever without charge or due process, and tell us and the U.N. to go f*** off. Just like we do to the rest of the world and standards of international law..
We set the precedent. Naturally others will follow our example in the future.

Jimmy Carter would personally send them 439 more.
The Democrats would deny that they were actually taken.
The Republicans would consider the options and plan to take action.
The Liberals would attempt a peacekeeping effort through talks.
The conspiracists would claim that our government planned it.
Meanwhile, their executions would be shown on national TV and the world would celebrate!

In 1976 they kidnapped our entire embassy. We did nothing then. Why would we do something now when the majority of our army has its hands full in Iraq.

That would depend on the 5 Americans. If it were John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, John Edwards, Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi... money would probably exchange hands under the table to NOT return them... LOL
