I like reading love stories by Jennifer Crusie. She is so funny and writes great love scenes. Her stories, to me, are so original and sharp. Any book by her is worth reading, but I think my favorites are "Bet Me", "Welcome to Temptation" and "Faking It".

I too am a Nicholas Sparks fan, try Jodi Picoult she writes The Pact, Keeping Faith and Plain Truth to name a few. Her books are fast/easy reading with a twist, They are truly wonderful. You will find that her style is VERY close to Nicholas Sparks [and I have read all of his books including his newest Dear John] Another really good book although I don't recall the author is "Icy Sparks" that's is a wonderful book...And if you like funny and feeling Try Augusten Burroughs, he writes Running with Scissors, Dry, Magical Thinking they are memoirs of his life. I hope this has been of some help for you! Keep reading! Enjoy!

I would recommend John Irving. Nicholas Sparks is a bit trite. John Irving takes a real look at relationships--it is not always (or often) a happy ending, but the complexity is intense.
