Red litmus paper stayed pink. Blue litmus paper turned pink. I don't understand the middle question. Sulfur burned in air to sulfur dioxide, which reacted with water to produce sulfurous acid.

S + O2 ===> SO2

SO2 + H2O ===> H2SO3

H2SO3 ===> H+ + HSO3- <===> H+ + SO3=
