Over Gapped Spark Plugs

Well, the result of improper gapping on your spark plugs would be anything from not getting a good enough spark, so you misfire alot to running fine, to not getting a spark at all and the car not running. Generally if your gap is too small you will end up with a weaker spark that may or may not allow the engine to run, and if your gap is too large, you may not get a spark to happen and again the engine may or may not run,

If your spark plugs are'nt gapped properly your engine may misfire causing the check engine light to come and set a code in your pcm. It will not cause any major problems or damage to your engine unless your leave it like this and do not correct the problem, it could cause problems with your valves, and deeper inside the engine. It is best to have your plugs gapped properly as they go in, that way you won't have to worry about them.

causes incomplete burn of the fuel mix. this leads to excessive
carbon build up on the plug, eventually leading to no spark at all.
immediate effects are ;loss of power, misfiring, poor idling, poor
gas mileage&generally poor engine performance. most plugs come pregapped out of the box,but you should check them yourself 'cause shipping& handling can mess up the gap. there
is a decal under the hood of most cars that tells the proper gauge for your car

Gap is too narrow, combustion wont be complete. Makes for bad mileage.

Gap too wide, weak spark, bad burn, burns out plugs.

you wont get a proper fire, which can lead to bad problems. You need a metal gage with the different sizes of metal sticks....Nappa will have it. I have an 10 Cyl and rplaced all my sparks with Bosch.

As long as it's between .025 and .070, it will run good, but mpg may suffer. It's probably supposed to be around .040.
