One of the greatest games I have ever played. Not to everyones taste though. Great extra content available, just don't buy the horse armour, it's a rip-off.

Anything is possible, but as someone who has frequented the ES forums for years, and was there all through Oblivion's pre-release hype and since, my educated guess is this: Not a chance in hell. You see, Oblivion is a finished with game now, they're not making anything else for it, so it will just drift off into relatice obscurity. There's no logical reason for them to stop charging for these DL's as anything they earn from Oblivion now will be a bonus. Basically, every Oblivion sale is a bonus and anyone who wants the DL content will buy it, so why bother putting it out for free? They get nothing back for putting it out for free. Also to consider is that it was at microsofts suggestion that the DLC was priced, MS don't want anything up for free unless it can turn a profit down the line. Putting these DLC up for free has no profit in it at all. So it won't happen.

I just got it last weekend, I couldn't hold out any longer. Picked up a 360 too. I loved ES3, but 4 is too good. I'll never play Morrowind again, they really seem to have gotten it right this time. The only gripe I have is the constant loading time causes stuttering. I would have preferred if they could find a way to render the terrain at more detail over longer distances too, but oh well.

Sorry to digress but saw Oblivion and had to say something. I do not have an X box but my partner and I are playing this at the mo (3 weeks running) at every opportunity. We haven't even started the main quest but got the book and doing all the little bits first (Level 39) and still have shed loads to do even though double hard b*******s! Loving it and as a couple he does the fighting and I do the Alchemy and directing (and nagging cos I'm a girl IE have you poisoned your blade, you are running out of health nag nag)
What a fantastic wonderful game! Love It!

It's about 1/2 as good as the PC version, as there is so much fan content made for the PC version. One example is a mod being created at the moment, which adds a large portion of Morrowind to Oblivion. Quality!
But as the PC version is great, the Xbox is still pretty damn good.

It depends on wot you like.
IMO i thought it was the biggest waste of money i ever spent.
Personally i prefer graphicaly superior games (ie Gears of War)
I prefer super realistic games (ie GRAW)
I like to be able to play with friends online.
IMO Oblivion is ok for about 2 days, untill you have done afew quests, i think its all just the same.
However as you can already see some people love the game and will defend it.
It leads me to say, if you like games like Final Fantasy and other RPG's, then youll love it, but if you are only looking to buy it because some people have told you its great, then i would look elsewhere for another game.

It is the best Elder Scrolls game to date. I have played the others and they are good but this one is pure greatness.
