If your team beats a team ranked high and you chant "overrated" do you not realize that you are saying your team is not good enough to beat a team ranked that high? Wouldn't you rather beat a highly rated team to prove that you are a good team? I have never understood it when fans do this and I hate when fans of my team do it because all they are saying is that you aren't as good as your ranking because we beat you. It's really more of a cut down for the winning team than it is for the losers.

Overrated is when people talk a lot about someone and or a team and praise their talent/glory/blah blah blah when, really, they're not that good...
For example, we could say that every team that win against Boston or Houston but ranked lower than them can be called overrated because of their situation.
Also, a player like Vince Carter is, from my point of view, overrated cause we all know he can play much better than he is
At the opposite, Utah was underrated at the start of the season and Earl Boykins and Gilbert Arenas are often underrated as well

You got it wrong. If my team is beating your team, and your team is ranked higher than my team, my fans are shouting overrated because we should be rated where you are. And by us beating you we're proving that we deserve your rating more than you.
I play, coach, officiate, and cheer basketball games. If you're ranked #1 and we're ranked #10 and we beat you, and we're shouting overrated. We're saying not only are you overrated, not only do you not deserve the #1 spot, but we're underrated, and we should be #1.
That's what it means. Not that we aren't good enough to beat a top team, but that we are that top team and you're not.

wtf is her problem......
but yea Vince Carter is over rated...hes good...but his team suck...rockets would be # 1 in the East....
but now they are 5th in the West but ESPN says they are they are the 4 best team in the NBA
1.Mavs
2. Suns
3. Spurs.
4. Rockets...
