I like both private schools and homeschools but don't like the public schools. I like the fact in private schools they teach more than what is in the textbooks and homeschooling because the child gets more one on one attention if they are struggling.

I prefer private school. My son goes to a private school and Ifeel he is getting an excellent education. In a public school, I feel the material is "watered" down and a child's full potential is not explored. The "no child left behind" I feel is not such a good thing because smart kids are "dumbed" down. Does that make any sense? Teachers aren't allowed to do anything anymore in public school. Discipline? Forget about. Most parents don't discipline their children at home so they sure aren't going to allow the child to discipline them. Don't get me wrong. I am not saying ALL parents. But I think you know what I mean.

I personally prefer to be home schooled. I'm not religious in any way, I just like the fact that I can work at my own pace, I have been able to graduate high school in less than two years because I was able to work much faster than public school kids. I use the Keystone online program and it's awesome! Public school caters to the child with the lowest intellect and private school kids are usually kinda snobbish. I was in public, private and homeschooling during my childhood and I prefer to be home schooled.

Public schools. I went to public schools all my life (except for the college I am in now) I feel like I recived a great education and learned so much more about diversity. Public school is more like the real world. It takes all kinds of people. One learns how to weave through large crowds and how to make the "right" decision. In my opinion private school kids are sheltered so when they get to college how are they going to be able to resist drugs and alcohol if they never said no before? Also if a child is struggling the child needs to relize that his or her self and find a tutor. This also prepares you more for real life because you are not always going to have a "teacher" right there to help you if something goes wrong. Somethimes you just need to teach it to yourself. And guess what because of my public schoool education i can read the books in college and teach myself if i have to. I doubt a private shcool kid could not do that.

But then again you have to look at children individually. Some kids need small clases with sheltered rich kids to excel...but then again what happens when they get into a huge university?

Keep this in mind "The best education is free" and if you send your kid to private school you are kind of paying 2 tuitions.

One more issue- i don't think i expressed how much i believe diversity is important. One needs to learn and appreciate other cultures.

I went to public school and i loved every minute of it. With private schooling i dont think kids get the diversity that they would get in a public school. I mean if you are single Hispanic parent do you think you are going to have enough money to send your kid to a private school. and if you are home schooled your child wont get the socialization that they need. i think kids will learn the same if they attended private or public. Sometimes it just depends on the child, if they want to learn they will do it whether they are in public, private or home schooled

I've been in both private and public schools and I prefer public because it allows for a more diverse setting (good and bad) and it more or less prepares you for the real world

if your parents are smart then homeschooling is by far the best having a 1:1 teacher student ratio is great but otherwise private school they usually have better teachers even though it might cost alot. if you are short on the budget then public school.

I prefer Private schools.
U know fren in homeschoolings we learn just ourselves. We cannot share many things as we can do in private scools. In pr.schools we not only get to learn many things from all the other students but we also enjoy with our frens. so i love my school. Also in home it becomes boring to study but in private schools we learn n become very interestedin studies
Then i dont prefer pubic sc becoz they dont have any kind of proper rules n regulations. The teachers r so careless that the good students also dont get to learn properly.

For me I think I'll prefer to private schools......And why?.....It's because they teach more advanced lessons there. And homeschool is boring....You won't have any friends to hang with.....And public..........It's even more boring in public schools

I have nothing to base my opinion on, since I went to public schools, but I would say from an educational standpoint, you are right, but from a social standpoint, either public or private school.

Public or private. My son graduated from public school; he makes about 90 grand a year.

My daughter graduated from private. She makes about 30 grand a year.

Hmmmmm.....
