Some women just don't produce enough of the hormone that the test picks up, for the test to read properly... or you are later on in your pregnancy and the hormone level has already dropped...

HCG, the hormone detected in urine, drop drastically later in pregnancy. The pregnancy is later sustained by progesterone. You may not get a positive test if you are that far along.

Because you were mistaken about being pregnant. If you are "later on" in the pregnancy then the hormone detected would be stronger. Not weaker. The home pregnancy tests detect a pregnancy hormone in your urine. One you only produce when pregnant.
The only other option would be that you lost the baby early in a pregnancy and didn't detect it. Highly unlikely though. There should have been bleeding and cramping.
I suggest taking another test and if it's negative - your not pregnant. If you still think it's wrong. Go get a blood pregnancy test at your doctor's office. That's NEVER wrong.

well it could have been a faulty pregnancy test. but i was also told by a nurse that after a certain point in your pregnancy you Hcg levels drop making it harder to have a positive test.

That's a little odd. Instead of buying another HPT, though, I would ask your doctor. It could be a defective test, or your HCG levels could be low.
When I took one just for kicks, that thing glowed in the dark.
I think that it was just a defective test, but you may want to also consult your physician if this is bothering you.

clearly there wasn't enough of the hormone in your urine for the test to detect. Maybe you drank a lot of water that day. Don't worry about it.

Not all tests are 100% accurate. That would definitly prove the point!

Some HPT don't always work, that's why they have you take more then one and get blood taken.
