I took about a month after I stopped breast feeding before mine stopped being sore and producing milk. Mine weren't engorged for that entire month but I still produced some milk. Just give it time. Don't pump them cause it will just stimulate more milk production. Old wives tale if you put a cold piece of cabbage in your bra on each breast it is suppose to dry up your milk supply.

Everyone is different and every time is different but usually around 5-7 days. Try hot baths or cold compresses if they are still really painful after 14 days speak to your health visitor or GP. After I finished feeding my second daughter I still leaked but wasn't engorged for about a month which was very disconcerting but not abnormal or so I was told at the time.

i think you can change them as often as you would like. they'll help a lot to take some of the heat out of them... also you could get an ace bandage and wrap it slightly tightly but not too tight around your chest(with or without the leaves) so you can put some pressure on the breasts which is good. i did that when i weaned my last child off the breast, and i think it really helped to make the whole process go faster. just beware-- if you get any bright streaking or flu-like symptoms, like a fever or the shakes, call your doctor as soon as you can; it is possible for the ducts to develop and infection if milk builds up and forms a clog. i don't mean to alarm, but i've had that twice and it's seriously not fun... good luck :)

here in sigapore we would usually use the cold cabbage treatment-its kinda bit messy but it works for some ppl. you peel a few cabbge leaves that you left in your fridge and put it in your bra on your breast. The length of time varies fm 5days- 10 days. Gd luck!

About 7-10 days. I used a cabbage in my bra which really helped! (make sure you change them regularly as the cabbage will stink after a while!)

It will be a few days yet, I'm sorry to say. Try wearing two bras for extra support. Hope you feel better soon.
