i have a new babt and want to find out events etc that happoned on that date

Go to the website below - it has a section: This Day in History. If you're in the UK, don't forget that when you enter the date, you need to put the month first, ie., for today: 1/18. They have a main feature for the particular date, plus a lot more listed on the left side of the page, with links. (Congratulations on the new baby!).
