I'm Australian and my aboriginal friends here proudly call themselves "Black fellas". We refer to them by their tribe in description but in general, they are black & proud to be known as such. (although it could be said in an offensive tone by a whiteman, they've no problem with me describing someone as a black fella) I wonder if many African American people prefer to be called Black? I am not making any kind of statement, just curious as to if & why you do or don't like to be called Black. Does it make a difference who is using the term? I understand the people and history is different to our indegenous people but this is why I am asking?

Abhi Bumlicker is just upset because he has been trying to pay old men to perform oral sex on them & even they won't let him put his infested mouth anywhere near them. This dude has so much of a fantastic life that he has time to report every Q & A from everyone who hates him... that's about an 8 hour a day job!

Well no one person can speak for an entire race. I'll speak for myself.
I am a black woman and liked to be referred to as such because, yes I am a decendent of Africans, I don't consider myself to be "african". My family is black and native american and have been here since and before slavery so I feel no ancestoral ties to Africa, hence I call myself Black.

Because of slavery, the culture of the African Americans was diluted. In order to assimilate into the USA society, African Americans tried many different venues. Some have succeeded, others have not, thus introducing vastly different philosophies of life.
In rebuilding the culture, it is difficult to get total agreement on almost anything, especially the name used to identify an entire group of people.
Using the term Black to replace the term ***** which was a name/identity established by the white authority, many African Americans felt was one of the first attempts at establishing a form of independence.

Since my family is from Trinidad (a caribbean island) I do not like to be called African American because while some of my ancestors are African I am not, black is fine with me. To me only people born in Africa should be called African American so our dear Shiloh Jolie-Pitt should be called African American. However, I know this is not the way it is and anyone who is black in America is considered or will call themselves African American. I guess Afr.Amer is a safe term because you won't offend too many people by saying it. I may not like to be reffered to as Afr.Amer but I will not be offended by it.

it is easy. i might somewhat be referred to as black. it is to stay consistent with the coolest judgment of addressing human beings by what they appear as if and not the place they're from. enable's take the term "African American" as an occasion. the 1st word "African" addresses the place you ancestors are from. the last word, "American", addresses the place you're from. Now if we've been to prepare an analogous equipment of naming to absolutely everyone, you could think of the priority in this. as an occasion, enable's use white whit human beings. might you call them in accordance to what united states you're from or might you confer with all of them as ecu American? All white human beings did not are come from Europe purely like each and every black everybody isn't from Africa. yet differently to describe it is, if all black human beings originated from Africa, then why does this distinction might desire to be made while describing black human beings? it might desire to continuously be assumed. perchance everybody is mushy approximately there perceived historic previous so as that they seek for delight in it by making it know in one among those way. yet there is fallacy in this besides. there are various black human beings in Africa who hate African individuals because of the fact African individuals have on no account truly had it tricky while in comparison with them. or perchance black human beings might desire to be referred to as brown human beings. in spite of each and every thing, that's extra precise. it is not a warm subject count number. enable's all purely choose to label human beings in an consumer-friendly and incessant way.

You can't get anyone to agree on what they want to be called. Just call them anything you want and then wait to be corrected!
