It all depends on what kind of file it is. When you uninstall a program it removes it from the computer and the registry. Some programs need to be uninstalled because they have parts all over the computer. If you just deleted it you would have some errors come up. If it doesn't have an uninstall then you should be safe to delete them. When you delete them they will go to your recycle bin. Empty your recycle bin and they will be gone. If you delete a large amount of files it is good to go into your hard drive tools and run defrag. That helps to clear up the empty spaces that are left by the files and helps your computer and hard drive run faster.

Try this, go to "control panel" and open "add/delete programs" (or something like that sorry I don't have the English Windows) there you have a list with all the programs installed on your pc and choose the program you want to uninstall.

The difference between delete and uninstall, is that most programs install some files on windows directory, if you uninstall the program, it search those files to delete them....

Assuming you run Windows, delete would only remove files you selected. But many programs placed some files in windows or windows-system folder that you might not know. Also they write in registry. Their install/uninstall utility should take care those part for you.

Delete is removing it from your computer placing it in the recycling bin and getting rid of it...kind of like throwing it in the garbage. uninstalling is removing it from the place it is in but still having it on your computer the same as moving furniture from one room and placing it somewhere else. If you are no longer wishing to use that program it is safe to delete it.

delete is to deleting user files. Uninstall is to remove certain programs installed in your PC.
deleting files can be done when the files are a product of your work. programs can be uninstalled form the Control panel >> add remove programs.
if you directoy delete the programs, it might result in unknowingly deletion of certain system files that might lead to a sudden crash. and you might as well loose data.
- cheers.
