saying what is on their mind (with out caring how it sounds)

Blunt is the opposite of sharp... so one would assume that a blunt person is not so sharp or smart, however, it does not mean that. Blunt is used to describe people who talk in a very straight forward, almost rude manner. In this case, I believe it's the opposite of finesse, espcially in the sense that with a sharp knife you can delicately carve but you have to aggressively cut with a blunt knive.

To be blunt means that you don't consider the other person's feelings when you talk.

For example:

a) "Does this jacket make me look fat?"

b) "It sure does."

In this case, "b" does not try to answer the question in a way that protects "a" from feeling hurt.

"b" is blunt.

"b" should have said: "Well, I think the other jacket looks better on you."

The meaning is the same, but "a" will feel a lot less hurt this way.

Yes, it is the opposite of sharp (as in accurate or keen). These are direct, often abrasive words that can hurt, but get right to the point. It is effective only if it is used on someone you want to drive away. Use of this tactic with a friend or loved one will cause them to withdraw quickly, either emotionally or physically.
Like, "My way or the highway". (most people choose the highway)

Blunt means telling the facts straight out. No sugar coating, no making it sound nice to spare feelings. It means saying exactly what is with no fluff.
