Last week the builders took down the scaffolding from my house ( a mini tornado hit the roof and took off lots of tiles just before Christmas) Yesterday the gales took them off again! The wind blew down an old but beautiful lilac tree in the front garden, flattened my huge pampas grass bush and the climbing frame and trampoline have been blown across the garden, even although they were staked to the ground. There was some good come from it all, for two years there has been a football stuck very high in an elm tree in the garden; the wind last night, blew the football down! I live in Devon.

Blimey. I just saw a roof tile fly past my office window and smash onto a conservatory below.
Hardly the same as someone losing a life.
I saw on the news that America is having a bad time with the freezing weather?

Quite a few people's property is being damaged by things flying into them. I thought I was safe sitting in my car then I realised that the wind is strong enough to blow wheely-bins down the street, and thats what is causing the most damage. Best advice....keep the bins on lock-down!

I live in the south-eastern U.S. and the worst is when the wind hits during a hurricane and trees fall down and kill people
