wow- I'm pretty liberal, but what a risky move!
I think about the threats to national security because it's easier to get into Mexico. I think about drugs and other crime getting worse through illegal trafficing over the border.
I wonder

Yes you are right an equilibrium would follow because the standard of living would be the same in both countries. People living in cardboard shacks.
Personally forget about a wall. Put landmines along the border and razor wire in between the landmines. Try to create it so wild animals like deer and rabbits don't get hurt.

No...I know that America is a melting pot and it should stay that way but do it legally. I think that the US should uphold the Monroe Doctrine and take care of ourselves and the Western Hemisphere before worrying about anyone else. I do not think that letting them in will help the US economy...I think that if we do keep them out it will raise the US economy and make for more jobs for Americans.

Simple answer, yes. We already have a free trade agreement with mexico. It would be much easier and safer for immigrants to pass through the border stations legally. It would be far cheaper to document who crosses the border and when they cross. If people really wish to immigrate, they should be allowed to. We are a nation of immigrants.

No, you are as wrong as the day is long. If we keep the illegals out with a fence, then more jobs will open up for regular Americans, putting more money in the US economy.

Absolutely no way. Just the cost of housing, feeding, and providing free medical services to these illegals runs in the billions of dollars.
Not to mention the crime that they bring with them.

I honestly think it would depend on how us law enforcement, the judicial system and the presidents of both countries handled it,,,like,,build mexico, and instill new laws ahead of time, put their armies on their borders, and some of ours too, etc.......you would have to tame the drug trade cartels, and the people to american law FIRST....that would take years, and change their school books, teach em english etc......
not to mention that we all need to learn spanish,so they cant talk ****

I think instead of taking over iraq, america should start closer to home. We should be helping Mexico build a better Mexico and they wouldn't want to come over here. Instead we decided to go blow up Iraq.
