A friend of mine kept getting letters from women across the country who claimed to be famous psychics. They said they'd picked him specifically to help him fulfill his great destiny...which mainly included getting rich and finding true love, the usual things psychics promise. What I want to know is: How did he get on their mailing lists?

They got his information from a list broker, who bought the name from a site or a business that your friend either visited or did business with. It is amazing who will sell your info, including organizations like state licensing departments. A list broker will assemble information according to parameters that you give them, and arrive at a price per name depending on the quality and specificity of the list. Your friend, judging from the respose, is a desirable pigeon for the unscrupulous "psychics", indicating that one of these phonies probably got some money from your friend at some point.

By the way, I knew you were going to ask this question.

Off the internet. Also if he ever called in and purchased anything from a psychic before....they networked to bulk him out of money. Don't believe the hype. The only psychic I would give any of my time to would be Sylvia Browne. She seems real!

" a fool and his money are soon parted " is an old saying. I did a sociology paper on psychics and proved to the satisfaction of my professor and others there was no actual proof to the truth of psychics. ten years later was still receiving letters from psychics with various offers. please tell your friend not to waste his/her money.

Don't question the psychics...they know all.

They probably bought a mailing list and his name was on it - could be from anything he has purchased or signed up for.
