make cricket one of your primary school sporting programs
Actively recruit kids above 15 into junior teams. pay these kids a good wage. then if they play for Indian pay them excellent wages. A crap Aust cricket can afford to buy a $A2,000,000 plus house but an average indian player will find it hard to afford.
Senior coach should be an Indian because foreigners don't understand Indian culture as well so will not communicate/mediate as well. Hire specialised fielding coach, batting and bowling coaches.
5 excellent batsmen 5 excellent bowler 1 wicketkeeper (can be an average batsmen as long as he's a superb catcher)
should there be an all rounder, he has to specialised in either bowling/batting and be a 'part time' bowler/batsmen only.

Indian cricket team should concentrate on 3 things. that is, BATTING,BLOWING and FIELDING..

Just by chit chatting you can not make any team number 1. You nead top class team members, who plays for the team for the nation not for themselves. They should get encouraged by all Indians and should get protected from dirty politics, people should encourage/motivate good players. That will definitely make indian team number 1.

Give them an amnesia pill before the match, that way they will concentrate on the ball and not on
1) The Celebrity endorsements they are hoping to get.
2) Whether they will be allowed to play in the next test match.
3) Who will sponsor their family for the next big vacation in switzerland.
4) How to reduce their income tax liability.
5) Will they be chosen as the next style icon among the youth.
6) Are investments in property better than investments in Wind Generators.
7) How much they have made that day on the stock markets.
8) Will they get invited to that big party Mukesh Bhai will be throwing next week.
9) Hoping Abhishek does'nt forget to invite them to his wedding.
10) Did the style with which I hit the last ball look cool
11) etc, etc, etc (Not concerning the existing match).

The key to make India no.1 is match practice and on field tactics and by introducing more all rounders in the team.

To make Indian team No 1: we must have 3 fast bowlers, 1 good spinner,1 good wicket keeper batsman,1 responsible captain and 1 vise captain(who does no give up at any situation.) 2 best all rounders.1 very very talented best fielder and batsman .totaly 11.
1 good aussie coach.(not chappel) one substitute all rounder.
or those who are scoring centuries...they can be in advertisements.those who are not scoring they must be not in adds and salary will be down.

By good Coach, Training and regular matches, even continuos playing the games will make players perform better.

india cant be number one.reasons
1:players put under severe pressure every time they play
2.there is so much competition going on that a player dont know
whether he is good enough to play at this level or not
