Using the wrong kind, applying too much, or your skin becoming dry. Try applying a mostierizer to your face and neck while your face is still damp. Let that dry and then apply your foundation with a sponge and not your fingers, it will look alot more even and the sponge removes the excess make up finsish it with a loose powder and go about your day...that should help!

Putting either too much on, using the wrong foundation for your skin type, or using cheap foundation, or by not using the right moisturiser for your skin type.
If you choose the right moisturiser and the right foundation (spend more money on these products as they will never let you down) your makeup should not be cakey at the end of the day.

The reason is based on the formulation of the foundation. Short cuts in manufacturing and using inexpensive raw materials lead to a lessor quality foundation even though the prices are not cheap. The best foundation I have found is Bee-Luscious Mineral Liquid Powder foundation, it comes in a black tube and a little goes a long way, it lasts me about 6 months. You can check it out on beeroyalproducts.com under cosmetics. I hope this helps
