First of all, Hindley and West were not technically serial killers--both helped to commit heinous acts that were carried out by the predominant men if their life.
Men have copious amounts of testosterone. This is part of the hunter/gatherer predisposition. Fight or flight. Some suggest that adrenal impulses--experienced during sports involvement, sexual encounters, fighting--run stronger in men due to a primal instinct for mating and survival.
To many men, this surge in energy, and accompanying euphoria are enough to satisfy. In others, those who especially have addictive/compulsive disorders, more deviant and risky behavior (thrill-seeking) is involved to have the same effect. Such as: killing instead of just fighting; rape instead of consensual sex.
In short, the hard-wiring that makes men capable of the greatest of feats, also has the capacity for making the worst monsters.

They are not all men, however they do cause more damage. Women do hit back believe me they do. But most men do not have any idea how to deal with there anger because many of them don't have any idea how to communicate. Also the fact that are society has very little respect or concern for women is another thing. A person will be sentenced to prison faster for killing an animal than for killing or abusing a woman and they know this. So I think they feel if our judicial system doesn't care why should they stop what they are doing when we know many women will loose there lives because of these violent acts.

At least that fact takes away 50% of the population when trying to find these guys. Men have greater capacity for aggression than do women in most cases. Men's brains act differently due to testosterone and adrogen and the part of the brain that controls aggression is not as developed. They have done studies on the brains of convicted pedophiles and murders and came to that conclusion.

Perhaps it is because then men have not been clever enough and got caught and the women haven't - only joking - I personally think that yes it is a bit to do with power and strength but could it also have anything to do with women being more emotional or to do with women being more maternal - I don't know - I guess each sick individual will have there own reasons

I think it's the male instinct to fight and to be the more aggressive and dominant of the species.
Therefore I think it is fair to say that most serial killers, rapists, murderers and paedophiles etc are of the male gender, although some females have been influenced by the desire to be equal and we find this growing equality becoming more frequent.

First off, most of you men haven't read the question properly, she said "almost". We understand that there are women who commit heinous crimes, but men are more capable and do so more often. I think that ist because men don't know how to react to their emotions. For example, they "feel" like they were hurt as a child so they don't know how to react or deal with it and they themselves would rather be the abuser than to ever be the abused. They don't know how to react to women so they rape instead of feeling rejected. Its because society has taught men that being emotional and sensitive is a womans thing when in reality we all need to have a healthy outlet!

Not that surprised - its all this testosterone flying about. The statistic is that if you got rid of all young men, say aged 16 - 25 (give or take a year either side, I can't remember the exact ages) there would be no crime

Hi there, These are crimes that traditionally have required physical strength and high mobility, which men have always had in greater abundance. Womens crimes have been more home based and harder to detect. In the new age of equality, we should expect the numbers to equalise a lot more (and they are already).

well not 100% but most of them, yes.I think that men can go to the other extreme too. I think that they can be even more loving and tender than some women, and proof of this is that they make fantastic chefs!
