Adam LaRoche goes to Pittsburgh in exchange for Mike Gonzalez. I like the trade on both ends, but as a Pirates fan (yes, there are still a few of us) I'm amazed that the Pirates actually made an offseason move that seems to make some sense!! Thoughts?

Good trade for the Buccos this time, when I heard of the trade I thought they pulled off another one of their bonehead trades!!!

ex. Aramis Ramirez for Bobby Hill

LaRoche is going to MASH in that Pittsburgh ballpark! It's tailor made for a LH power hitter. Look for 40+ HR's and an All-Star spot if he stays healthy. The Pirates bullpen was already deep so no real harm letting Gonzo go.

I am a long time Pirates fan and am so excited about the trade !
In all likelihood, he will bat cleanup, behind National League batting champion Freddy Sanchez and in front of two-time All-Star Jason Bay. And, if those three perform to their recent precedent, it would give the Pirates their strongest heart of the order since the early 1990s, when Andy Van Slyke, Barry Bonds and Bobby Bonilla were there.

I miss those times, hopefully they are back !

I kinda like the trade .... but knowing that the Pirates just changed their managing general partner and benched that greedy fool Mc Clatchy, I just wonder where is Neil Walker going to play when he's ready. Paulino and now La Roche seem to lock him out of catcher and first ... and Freddy isn't going off third yet. Can Walker play the OF?

BTW ...you want Bay in front of La Roche ...not the other way around. it should be whatever stiff Tracy likes in center at the moment, Sanchez, Bay, La Roche, Nady, Paulino, Castillo and Wilson.

The braves gave away not something and have been given in certainty not something which will relatively help all of them that plenty in return.... This commerce does not positioned the braves in opposition they nonetheless want yet another bat and yet another consistent starter. the place do i even initiate with the pirates they nonetheless have numerous holes and traded away there appropriate gamers in contemporary reminiscence.. Bay, Nady, and now McClouth.

I think both teams got what they wanted, Pittsburgh a 1st baseman with some big league experience and Atlanta a pretty good reliever.

Looks like a good trade for both teams. Check back in three years though, that's when you can really tell.
