I think you re better off buying a kit. Unless you have access to the spores of mushrooms you will not be successful.
Try contacting someone with in the mushroom growing industry, maybe they could help you.

You need spores off of an existing mushroom...If you find one in the wild you need to knoe enough about them not to kill yourself...the kits are best for starters....even High Times sells them...; )

i tried this very last 3 hundred and sixty 5 days with a mushroom growing equipment I were given from Woolies and that i failed miserably! you're meant to save them in the nice and cozy temperature darkish and that i left mine in the showing cupboard. you want to save them moist too yet i tried quite puzzling and couldn't produce any so i purchase mine from the greengrocers really now!

'shrooms develop from a spore not seeds.some rotting trees are known to help growth. in the n.east ,elm, poplar and apple are shroom friendly.Ive found them in mulch or tanbark that is available from most garden centers.BE SURE THE MULCH IS NOT DYED OR TREATED.Some horse manure in your recipe will definately help production as well. However you will still need shroom spore to get started.when washing your harvest, save the water and put it onto your shroom "garden"
