The answer to your question is "no". Since Freemasons have become so intertwined with religion the direction to research is in the religions of the world. And in order to delve deeper into the research you have to explore the monetary systems, or wealth, of each religion. The financial wealth of religions controls the economic impact it has on you, your state, your country and world economy. If you have been reading Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons" or "The de Vinci Code" you would think the Freemasons have infiltrated every economic activity in the world and have infiltrated for a dictatorial financial gain. And if you listen to the Catholic church you would feel Catholicism fears, to a degree, the Freemasons. You will find that most Freemasons are basic Christians. It is basic Christianity that reaches every corner of the globe and into every economic endeavor and culture regardless of race or gender. Freemason society has a hierarchy of rules that are required to believe in and follow. The top of the hierarchy in this set of rules is the belief in GOD, first and foremost, then family, and so on. True and loyal Freemasons are not a threat to the world as in ruling the wealth of world. But within all of society's, groups, religions and etcetra there are persons that bend the rules and seek personal gain. So, do Freemason control the world? To answer one must think, money, religion and good versus evil. To further answer one must realize that within all humankind are those humans that seek more than they are willing to work for and will take by any means possible what they perceived as their's. It isn't a society, such as the Freemasons, or a particular religion, that controls the world but it is particular person(s) within those societys or groups that have beliefs or mis-beliefs that control the world.

A great brotherhood but the numbers are dwindling with a lot of lost brothers and inactive members. Their purpose is not control but self-control.

No. Why? because one among my previous relations acquaintances is one. they somewhat do not attempt this a lot that easily warrants controversy. a number of their conferences are easily open to the universal public. in the experience that they wanted to cover a conspiracy, believe me it would want to stay secret.
