I had to do it for medical reasons so my insurance covered it but if you are willing to pay for it - what the heck, do it.

Although it is a great alternative to the regular ultrasound, I wouldn't recommend it. If this is something that you really want as a keepsake I would talk to my regular doctor about it first.
I talked to my doctor about the new 3d/4d ultrasound, and he said that he wouldn't recommend it. The reason he wouldn't recommend it, is because at most clinics of this nature the ultrasound isn't done by a trained ultrasound technician nor is it done under the direction of a radiologist. My doctor also stated that this is a form of x-ray, and should only by done by qualified persons with the proper training.
If this is something that you really want as a keepsake check out the place first, because your baby's safety and well being should come first.

I think it is the neatest thing I have ever seen. However sometimes you get screwed out of money, my daughter was 30 weeks when we went to have the 3/d 4/d ultrasound and she had her face covered by her hands and we couldn't see her at all. We ended up paying $100 for nothing, She just didn't want us to see her at that point I guess. So if you do it, Hopefully your child will be in the mood to have its pictures taken, and make sure they don't make you pay the full price if it won't work before you do it. Good Luck!

I wanted to do this too, but after talking to my sis in law who had about 10 3d and 4d ultrasounds due to medical complications, I decided not to. She aid at first it was nice to see the baby, but it totally took away the suprise because she knew exactly what her daughter looked like before she was born.

When I went for my 20 week 2dimension scan the sonographer couldn't tell the sex of the baby so we considered having a private 4d scan done. We have decided against it as although we would love to know the sex and would be able to see from the scan, we don't want to see the baby's face in too much detail. We want to be able to look after the birth and decide who he/she looks like etc. I think it is a totally personal choice and if you want to go ahead with it then it is up to you. I think they are fantastic to look at but it just wasn't for us. Good luck with your baba xx

not at all!!
i think its a fantastic idea, i wish i could find soemwhere in western australia that did the same thing.
but the fact that ur asking us,when u do have the money shows u are a bit hesistant
but i think itd be a lovely memory to see ur child develop, better than the dodgy x-ray style photographs used in most clinics.
200 dollars now= a memory that has been captured for a lifetime
good luck with the bubby

Imagine how amazing that would be for a child to have that growing up. What an experience and also for you i think it is incredible the things they can do now, if i had the money i would do it. i rekon go 4 it, what have you got too lose, except money but you've got that and in my opinion its well worth it.
Good luck sweetie and congrats on becoming a mum xoxoxo

It's a wonderful option that you won't get again. If I could afford it I would get the pic. It would be a great addition to the baby book and imagine this child getting to see this picture when he/she is older.

I was supposed to have one for a medical reason, but the machine wasn't working on my appointment day! I was so disappointed! But, you will get to see your beautiful baby soon enough. Do whatever you wish :) I would, however, tell your OB about it if you do it...just to keep him/her in the know.
Good luck!

They are AMAZING!!! You can actually see resembelences and everything.!!!! I know I'll get bagged for saying this but I'd definately do it. So worth it even if it is expensive. How cool is it to have that as a keepsake. And to show your child when they are older. Go for it!!!
