My answer is attitude! A decision to put on a happy face every day. Smile. Abe Lincoln said, "Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be." Think happy. Believe happy. Hang out with happy people. Laugh alot. Stay away from down people, places, and things!!

It appears to be that material things no longer bring "happiness"...

Once we are satisfied with the basic needs, and some other material wants as well, human nature as it is, seeks something else.

Personally, I found myself moving from one thing to another to seek happiness...keep an open eye for the small details of the world, such as nature, and how wonderful that is... and also, make other people happy. Try helping others, and you'll see what a big difference it could be. Even if it is a narration of a story to a child, and see his/her enthusiasm in hearing it. It's always the small things that connect us with what we truly are: human beings and living creatures. The connection with each other and with the world, something that the digital age is killing, will always remain our natural instinct.

However, also remember that happiness is momentarily. The next second you know, you might end up unhappy again. It is only how you accept to achieve from that moment and to remember how happy it was, to look upon it, and build upon it for the next step of happiness.

So, then I turn to God, and see the wonder he is.

I think it is a matter of who rather than what for me. What indicates materialism. Who indicates something that is more tangible than any material object. I create happiness. I do so by spending time with my children, listening to them laugh, argue, helping them with a problem or assisting them with an opportunity, and holding them close as long as they will allow me to do this. I do this by grabbing my husband as he's walking by and planting a huge kiss on him! I do this by watching my dog chase his tail and laugh at his surprise when he catches it. I do this by sitting down and taking a moment when the sun is setting or a bird is taking flight or whatever sight catches my attention. I do this by enjoying a wonderfully delicious meal or dessert.

I could go on but I think I've made my point. Happiness comes from me...for me. Its free.

It really depends. So many things can create happiness towards you and others. "Why do I hit myself with a hammer? becaues it feels soo good when I stop" haha its a good quote- don't actually take it that way. Food can make you happy, friends, money, family, activities, sports, shopping, feelings, achievements. Etc.. anywya all these things can also bring you sadness and anger but thats life! they can also make you extremely happy and the feeling is amazing. :)

I think "happiness" is different for everyone - but to try and answer your question I feel that everyone needs balance - between your mind body and soul. Yoga is a wonderful way to work towards balancing these three . Also, on the science end, you need to release endorphines to feel happy - and exercise is the way.

Interesting question.

Happeniess is what you personally (self) realised (with love you always had) when you have overcome (several) hurdles to achieve your dreams of your choosing. It doesn't matter which or what age it happens.

I reckon that "success is the journey not the destination" comes to mind would help to define happeniess.

In my case, being hearing impaired since 10 months old would be for me to speak clearly not unlike hearing impaired people would have trouble with their voice and relying on sign-language with two hands possibly needing an interpreter.

So you may see what I meant.

Happiness results when your mind releases endorphins. Due to evolution, happiness most often occurs when good events occur. However, there are some genetic or psychological flaws which can change what we refer to happiness, (i.e. masochism).

Giving your life to Christ brings eternal joy. It does not bring constant happiness in this life; nothing does. People disappoint us, even the ones we love. Tough times are unavoidable, but God sees His children through those tough times. The assurance that the Christian has of God's love and the promise of eternal life rises above any earthly pleasure that could give happiness.
