Wow. Now we are going to take the theory of global warming into account when adjusting the doomsday clock? Aside from this (the clock) still being one of the most egotistical and idiotic creations of the human race, at least in the old days it was a symbol of a desire for peace and security. Now it's going to be the global equivilent of the lifetime movie of the week? Why not add cervical cancer and violence against women to the list and bump that clock up to midnight? Does anyone really cringe and cower in fear when this clock is moved now? If so, how do you feel now that it's used for the flavor of the month cause?

Let me see.

If there is a guy in ratty clothes saying the world is about to end, we call him a nut.

Calling the Doomsday clock people nuts has a precedent. They are the "end of the world nuts" of science.

As long as I've been alive I've been seeing this doomsday clock saying global nuclear war is just around the corner... and it still hasn't happened. These morons said Reagan moved us closer to nuclear war and he's the guy that helped bring down the Soviet Union. I would have thought they would have been discredited by now.

You don't seem to understand the importance of global warming then, my friend. Though I agree, the doomsay clock is not something to be overly concerned about, global warming has earned its place among the factors. It is very possible that the earth could become to hot to inhabit. If we haven't found a way out by then...we likely never will. One theory is that global warming is just an effect of our world retreating from a relatively recent ice age. I think this is true, but also that out various poisonous emissions aren't helping, and are speeding up the process. In short, It's really about time global warming got a spot in the Doomsday factors.

I hope that clears some things up for you.

That clock is subjective it's not even worth paying any attention to. it's been moved up and set back 60 times in 18 yrs. sometimes it'll be two minutes to twelve sometimes it'll be as far as 17 minutes to twelve it's just another scare tactic. forget it

It's pretty annoying. I disregard it because we can't live our lives huddled in the corner, sucking our thumbs in fear!
