There is an overlap between what psychologists do and what social workers do. So, if you think that social work consists of case management, counselling, social activism, etc., then certainly a psychologist can do all those things (but probably would not think of those things as doing "social work.) However, a psychologist would probably not get employment as a social worker. In most places, social work is a licensed profession and you actually have to have training IN social work in order to call yourself a social worker. If you are already a psychologist and want to do social work, I would say that the best thing to do is to find a job as a psychologist which would give you the opportunity to do "social work" activities. A mental health clinic, a counselling centre, a non-profit organization, or even private practise would allow you to do those things.

I am a lawyer, not a psychologist, but I think this is a great way to start because you´ll help people and will also learn a lot from them.
I´ve been there and recommend it.

They can. The best way is to apply for a job in that field.

They're not very bright and will not truly help people in either capacity.
