I came home high last night, and today my landlord is threatening to evict me. I did not smoke on his property, I did not make noise when I came in (it was only about 11pm). I don't see how he has any ground to say what I can and cannot do on my own time. I pay my rent on time and am respectful to my neighbors.

I am curious how he knew for sure you were high. The only way he could evict you is if he could prove you actually have illegal drugs in your posession on the property. If he cannot do that, you are in the clear.

Chic is correct. The landlord has every right to not risk being involved in having drugs or anything illegal on premises that he owns. If you're such an upstanding citizen, why are you coming home high?

It depends on the terms of your lease. It is not unreasonable that your landlord does not someone living in his rental property who uses drugs because of his potential liability.

If it's not in your lease,(and it shouldn't be), you're golden. There's a line that he cannot cross. Controlling your lifestyle is one of those lines. Your contract with him is to live in the apartment in exchange for money. There's no morality clause in rental agreements.

Yeah...but with a nosey busy body like that. Who wants to live there...ask him to release you from your lease as you can't live under those conditions. Move!
