of these high winds and give the tree at the bottom of my garden a good shove? My neighbours and I loathe it but it's got a preservation order on it. Shall we just push it over and claim it was an act of god?

Ha, go on, can i have the wood for turning ?

TPO's are a joke. My mate had a TPO on his land where he wanted to build a swimming pool.

Chainsawed it down, fined £5K, job done.

The fines should be so much higher and with a covernent on the patch to stop anyone building on it. They never deter anyone with any money, people just treat it as part of the build costs.

sad but true.

Hi,
It certainly is, mon ami.
I had trouble walking forwards or backwards earlier.
There are fallen bits of tree everywhere, so a good nudge against the offending item would be OK in my book.
"It fell over" would be truthful.
A neighbour has done similar in these windy climes by taking a vehicle winch to a large thing in his front garden, which, although "protected" is now horizontal, it was nearly up against bedroom windows, and a nuisance.
I am all for tree preservation where reasonable, but.
If your God has decided to blow it over, then so be it.
Amen.
Bob.

Is it in danger of hitting any house or car? How about posing a danger to the people in the area if it were to fall without any "supervision"? You may want to consider this, if you decide to "help" Mother Nature.

Make sure that you are not hurt or no one is close enough to get hurt.

The real act of God would be if you all had the idea of pushing it over, & it fell on you anyway, just as you were about to do the deed. Besides, someone would probably be watching you do it & report you.
